Gem Hostel is a guest house in Cat Ba town on Cat Ba Island, in Ha Long Bay, with its own beachfront and a private beach area. Gem Hostel has four room types. All of them have air conditioning, a private bathroom and a flat-screen TV, so the differences lie in size, layout and outlook. The two 30 m² double rooms are the largest of the doubles: one has landmark and city views with two king-size beds, while the other has mountain views, two double beds, a dressing room and a desk.

The Standard Double Room, at 25 m², is the most compact option, with a single double bed. The Apartment with City View, at 40 m², is the most spacious: it has a separate living room, a bedroom with two extra-large super-king beds and a futon mat, and a kitchen with a refrigerator. It sleeps up to six guests and suits families or a larger group sharing one unit.

Guests can use a private beach area and a garden, with outdoor furniture for relaxing. Bicycle rental and bike tours are available, a tour desk helps with planning, and luggage storage, laundry and a minimarket on site cover everyday needs. A lift serves the building, 24-hour security is in place, and fitness facilities and car hire are also on site.

Free private parking is possible on site, and reservations are not needed for it. WiFi is available in all areas and is free of charge, private check-in and check-out are offered, and pets are allowed on request with no extra charges.

Inside the rooms, guests find free toiletries, a hairdryer, a bidet and a bath or shower, and family rooms are available. A paid airport shuttle can be arranged for transfers.

Gem Hostel is in Cat Ba town, on the south-east coast of Cat Ba Island, with Lan Ha Bay lying offshore. The property has its own beachfront and a private beach area on the water's edge. Within a short walk, the Local Produce Market is 200 m away, while Quán Cơm restaurant is 50 m away and Phương Nhung-Hải Phòng is 100 m, so everyday shopping and simple meals are close at hand. Cat Ba National Park is also 50 m from the property, placing the island's forested interior close by.

Tung Thu Beach is the closest beach at 700 m, and the Cat Co beaches lie next to the town itself. For onward travel, the Hoang Long bus station is 250 m from the property, and the Cai Beo Terminal For Tourists, a ferry terminal, is 1.4 km away. Cat Bi International Airport is 33.6 km away, the nearer of the two airports in the area, while Van Don International Airport is further off, so the journey from the airport is longer.

Several sights lie close by. Cat Ba Climbing on the island's limestone cliffs is 350 m away, the Cat Ba Bay Viewpoint and Monument 550 m, and Cannon Fort 950 m, so each makes an easy outing from the property. The Linh Quang Pagoda and Buddhist temple is 1.9 km away, and the national park's trails are the natural choice for a full day outdoors.
